BERR appoints dragon to race taskforce
15/01/2009

The department for Business, Enterprise, and Regulatory Reform (BERR) has appointed entrepreneur James Caan to co-chair its race task force.
Well known for his contribution to the popular BBC show Dragon's Den, Mr Caan will co-chair the BERR's ethnic minority task force.
"I am looking forward to using the same skills that I apply across all my business ventures to deliver tangible results," he said.
Mr Caan will be tasked with establishing relationships with banks and financial firms, to discuss how the department can better support Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) business owners.
Lord Mandelson, secretary of state for business, said he wanted to "create an environment where anyone with ambition, passion and a good idea - no matter what their background - can succeed".
The opportunity for BME managers to reach top executive posts has been brought into question by a new report prepared by Business in the Community.
It suggested setting public targets and taking positive action, including mentoring in the workplace.
