No panic among employers, says REC
09/01/2009

The Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) has said there has been no panic among employers despite the difficult economic times.
Tony Hadley, director of external affairs observed that bosses and employees remained calm, although fewer workers were seeking out pay rises.
"Everybody understands we are in quite a difficult economic climate and there's perhaps not as many people coming forward," he said.
Recent research by the REC showed 1.4 million workers were unhappy in their current post but dared not move for fear of not finding new work.
It also showed 22 per cent said they had little hope of receiving any pay rise.
Mr Hadley noted bosses had learned lessons from the past and had not reverted to mass job cuts.
"Employers are also aware that they've got to hold on to their good staff and make sure that they are motivated," he added.
