London 'still the best for business'
08/10/2008
London is still the best place in Europe to locate a business, a new report has found.
Cushman & Wakefield's European Cities Monitor, revealed the UK capital topped the poll, ahead of Paris.
James Young, City of London office head, said: "London is fortunate to be situated geographically between the economic powerhouses of the Far East and the United States."
"It is a truly international city which, although driven by the banking and financial services sector, is also a European media and creative hub."
The capital is home to all types of employment including retail, legal and construction jobs.
London came first in half of the survey's twelve major rankings, beating competitors on its access to markets, availability of qualified staff and international and internal transport links.
"The city is one of the main destinations for international investment and this will increase as it benefits from domestic investment in infrastructure and sporting venues as host of the 2012 Olympic Games," Mr Young added.
Of the 34 countries assessed Frankfurt came third, followed by Brussels, Barcelona and Amsterdam.
