HR: Busier and happier
18/08/2008
Workers in human resources (HR) are busier and happier than in other jobs.
According to a new Happiness at Work Index, 88 per cent of personnel managers are busier and working up to one day per week more.
Allison Grey from the recruitment consultancy that conducted the survey said: "The results are particularly revealing for HR workers. It seems the job is becoming very labour intensive."
However, employers should be aware of the potential damage done to their work force.
"The key message for employers is to not misread the unprecedented high levels of happiness for long-term genuine engagement," Ms Grey warned.
The research revealed more than half (56 per cent ) were less confident about their career than last year and almost a third (29 per cent) had given notice to resign.
Government guidelines suggest workers do not exceed 48 hours in any given week.
