Workers want managers to decide
04/04/2008
UK workers are unhappy with managers who struggle to make decisions, a new study has revealed.
Research by Work Life Balance Centre and Coventry University found that fewer than a tenth of British workers thought their bosses were decisive and revealed bullying was going unreported.
"Younger workers, and those in the industry sectors we have identified, seem especially vulnerable," said Professor Denise Skinner, the report's author.
Only seven per cent thought their bosses were empowering, 20 per cent complained they were indecisive and reactive and one in ten said they were distant and inaccessible.
The research also discovered that workers need more feedback and help with personal issues.
"Improvements also need to be made in the way people are treated when they ask for help with work/life balance issues," she added.
