12/03/2008

Graduates' most popular employers have been revealed in the Graduate Recruitment Review Law Edition, 2008.

Based on a poll of students interested in a career in law, market research company Trendance, revealed the United Nations (UN) and Allen & Overy were their favoured employers.

Clifford Chance ranked joint sixth alongside the Government Legal Service and Linklaters, which also made the top ten.

The study revealed that 45 per cent of students said they thought working for a law firm would bring a bad life-work balance - one in four were put off by a percieved lack of diversity in the jobs they offered.

Students, it revealed were less bothered by money when they considered who they would work for – only eight per cent put low salaries down as their reason for not wanting to join legal firms.

Prospects, the graduate careers information service revealed that most graduates move into the health service and associated professions (13.3 per cent) and less than one in a hundred (0.9 per cent) pursued legal careers.
