Top corporate law firm recruits trade lawyer
09/01/2008
Leading global business law firm DLA Piper has appointed top international trade lawyer Claudia Orozco to its London office.
The former minister counsellor at the Geneva-based Columbian Mission to the World Trade Organisation (WTO) is expected to bring a wealth of experience to the firm's established WTO practice.
Mike Pullen, head of DLA Piper's EU, Competition and Trade Team, commented: "We're delighted to have Claudia onboard. Her vast skills and experience complement our existing team and she brings significant strength to our WTO and customs practices."
The move will see Claudia work alongside former lead European Commission services negotiator and senior advisor to two EU External Relations Commissioners, Miriam Gonzalez.
"Together, Miriam Gonzalez and Claudia bring a unique combination of first-rate legal skills alongside the practical experience of working for governments and the connections that come with being a senior trade negotiator and litigator. Her appointment is timely given the level of instructions we are receiving in these areas," Mr Pullen added.
The hire comes when former DLA Piper securitisation head Jeanne Bartlett leaves the firm to join Appleby, taking up the role of structured finance chief.
