DLA Piper lawyers 'see record promotions'

Global law firm DLA Piper has announced the promotion of 69 lawyers to new roles within the firm's international partnership, marking a record year.

The firm promoted the highest proportion of lawyers in its London office, appointing 12 across six different legal practices.

In addition, its Manchester arm gained five promotions, while Leeds and Sheffield had three and one respectively.

Joint chief executive Nigel Knowles commented: "This year we promoted a record number of talented lawyers across the firm's global platform. These new partners have demonstrated their skills, commitment and ability to look after our clients around the world."

DLA Piper currently employs over 3,600 lawyers, based in 64 offices across 25 countries.

In December, the firm was named Mid Market Law Firm of the Year at the first Financial Times and Mergermarket M&A Awards, beating Magic Circle firms Allen & Overy, Clifford Chance and Linklaters to take home the title.
