PwC takes on 125 graduates
01/05/2009

PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) has hired 125 graduates for its training schemes.
The professional services firm is looking to recruit 1,000 staff this year as part of its national recruitment drive.
In terms of graduate recruitment it is "business as usual" says Sonja Stockton, head of student recruitment.
Ms Stockton noted that competition this year was "fierce" and the company has seen 38 per cent more applications for its full-time training programme and 30 per cent more people apply for internships.
"Graduates may have fewer job opportunities, but they still want high quality learning and development, and our April intake has attracted as diverse and dynamic a group as ever," she noted.
In related news, the Association of Graduate Recruiters (AGR) has welcomed the government's proposal to introduce an internship scheme for students just out of university.
Carl Gilleard, chief executive of the AGR, said that the initiative is certainly likely to prove popular with graduates, "especially if it improves their employability and job prospects".
