HR professionals cautious about CIPD standards map

Human resources workers have given a mixed reception to a skills map devised by the Chartered Institution of Personnel Development.

The HR Profession Map was created to help HR workers better understand the qualifications they could take to help with their career progression.

Clair Dallamore, senior HR adviser at health provider The Priory Group, told Personnel Today: "The map is missing a key ingredient in that financial awareness is becoming more important, so we need a better understanding of how HR impacts on finance and vice-versa."

The organisational director of the CIPD, Sarah Miles, explained that the document was a "complete rethink of professional standards".

In praise of the guide, Lucie Walmsley, HR assistant at the GBA group, said it would help "new people coming into the profession to understand what our role is in organisations".

The CIPD says HR personnel should be familiar with strategy, insights and solutions; leading and managing the function and organisation design.ADNFCR-1196-ID-19138586-ADNFCR
