AGR: graduates need to prepare more
13/02/2009

Graduates hoping to get their fist job need to be better prepared at interview, the Association of Graduate Recruiters (AGR) has said.
The association's latest study of the jobs market has revealed it is increasingly hard for recent university leavers to get their job of choice.
Chief executive Car Gilleard has said applicants need to be better prepared and more knowledgeable about who they want to work for.
"The message coming through loud and clear for this years graduates is research, research and more research know your potential employer and know your sector," he said.
The AGR has predicted vacancies will fall a further 5.34 per cent and banks will cut their recruitment most severely.
Applicants who are not successful in getting their dream job have been told it is better for them to take paid employment, rather than non at all.
The unemployment rate is now 6.3 per cent, according to National Statistics.
