Failure to disclose a medical condition could cost a former managing director (MD) £1 million.
Cheltenham County Council is sueing Christine Laird after it claimed she lied about her medical condition when she accepted a post.
Ms Laird has denied the claim that she did not tell her bosses she suffered from depression.
Because Ms Laird said she was in good health and did not consider herself to be disabled, she made a "fraudulent or negligent misrepresentation", the council claimed.
Winner of The Apprentice, Lee McQueen lied on his CV. Even so, Sir Alan Sugar was happy to give him a high-profile position.
Christopher Davies, a professional support lawyer in employment for Halliwells told The Telegraph it was extremely unusual for an employer to overlook such issues.
"But in real life he would not have got the job because of the fact that the person who is interviewing has got to take on board that he has put down false information."
