Brokers say social responsibility should be part of all our lives

Corporate social responsibility should be part of fims' business and our everyday lives, says the British Insurance Brokers Association (Biba)

Addressing its recent annual conference Erin Brockovich told delegates they needed to consider the morality of their actions.

Ms Brockovich famously investigated the poisoning of thousands of people living near a gas and electricity company's compressor station.

Her speech to the conference talked about morality, which is very relevant to the intermediary industry, said Eric Galbraith, chief executive of Biba.

"Our sector is all about trust, it's about ethics, it's about professionalism. The one word that she said probably sums it up: morality. That's what the basis is of our profession. We must maintain that," Mr Galbraith insisted.

The UK government says corporate social responsibility can help create and foster new relationships with stakeholders and is about taking a responsible attitude, not doing the bare minimum to cover legal issues.ADNFCR-1196-ID-19179326-ADNFCR
